At BL Trailer Hire, we are committed to operating in full compliance with all relevant transport, safety, and consumer protection laws to ensure a safe and lawful hire experience for all customers.
1. Driver Eligibility & Licensing
To hire a trailer from BL Trailer Hire, you must:
- Be between 18 and 75 years of age.
- Hold a current and valid Australian driver's licence (or equivalent if visiting from overseas).
- Ensure your vehicle is legally permitted and mechanically capable of towing the selected trailer.
It is your responsibility to comply with all licence restrictions and towing regulations as determined by your state's road transport authority.
2. Vehicle & Trailer Compliance
All trailers hired from BL Trailer Hire:
- Are registered and meet the Australian Design Rules (ADRs) for safety and compliance.
- Are regularly inspected and maintained to ensure roadworthiness.
- Come with functioning lights, brakes (if required), reflectors, and safety chains.
You must ensure:
- The total load does not exceed the trailer's weight rating or your vehicle’s tow capacity.
- The trailer is loaded evenly and safely, and that cargo is properly secured.
3. Legal Use of Trailers
The hirer agrees:
- Not to use the trailer for illegal activities or in violation of any road laws.
- Not to allow an unlicensed or underage driver to tow the trailer.
- To report any damage or accidents to BL Trailer Hire immediately.
4. Liability & Insurance
While BL Trailer Hire takes all reasonable steps to ensure equipment is safe and compliant, the hirer is responsible for:
- Any damage, theft, or loss of the trailer during the hire period.
- All traffic fines, penalties, or legal costs incurred while the trailer is in their possession.
- Ensuring the trailer is not used in a manner that breaches public liability laws.

5. Compliance with Local Laws
It is the customer’s responsibility to:
- Follow all state or territory regulations relating to towing and trailer use.
- Comply with maximum speed limits for towing (typically 100 km/h unless otherwise posted).
- Use towbars, chains, and electrical connections in accordance with legal requirements.
